En primavera hay que estar preparado para todo; lluvia, sol...cambios a diario. Este conjunto tan divertido le vendría bien a mi pequeña Hada. Sandalias rojas, vestido de lunares, un colgante de Gnomo y un alegre paraguas transparente, para hacerle más llevaderas las tardes de tormenta, ( mal tiempo buena cara). 

You have to be ready for all kind of weather these springdays: rain, sun...it changes everyday. This fun outfit could be perfect for my little Fairy. Red sandals, a polka dots dress, a Gnome pendant and a cheerful umbrella to brighten up stormy afternoons, (putting on a happy face to a rainy day!).

¿Sabéis hacer pompones? Si es así, podéis utilizarlos para hacer un montón de manualidades diferentes. No hace mucho pasamos una tarde gris de invierno haciendo pompones de colores. Acabamos haciendo un simpático conejo. Ahora que se acerca Pascua, me he acordado de él, ya que esta semana quiero decorar un rinconcito. Ya sabéis que somos una familia 50%española y 50%británica, así que nos gusta celebrar las dos culturas.

Con los pompones podéis decorar un regalo, hacer una guirnalda, un ramillete de flores añadiendo un palito a cada pompon...y animalitos.

He utilizado una tutorial de un libro llamado "Pom-pom pets" de American Girl. Es un kit de tutoriales, con un poco de material y piezas de plástico semicirculares para hacer los pompones.

Do you Know how to make pom-poms? If you do, you could use them to make different projects. Not so long ago, a grey wintery afternoon, we made some colorful pom-poms. At the end we made a rabbit. Now that Easter is almost here, I want to decorate a little corner of my home, so I thought about this rabbit. As you know, my family is 50% british and 50% spanish, so we like to celebrate both cultures.

You can use pom-poms to decorate a present, to make a garland, to make some flowers... and little animals.

I used a tutorial from a book called "pom-pom pets", American Girl. It's a kit with tutorials, some materials and pom-pom makers.

¿Tenéis papel de colores en casa? Seguramente sí. Pues animaros a hacer origami o papiroflexia con vuestros peques. Perfecto para un finde lluvioso o para decorar. A partir de 5 años ya tienen la destreza manual necesaria para hacer animalitos, barcos, dinosaurios... Necesitamos cortar el papel en cuadrados y unas sencillas instrucciones como estas .También podéis comprar kits de papel + instrucciones, o papel  especial, solamente. Yo tengo un kit "Origami Fun Kit for Beginners" de publicaciones Dover, en ingles. Son tres libros y papel de origami.
La próxima vez quiero probar con papel de regalo reciclado y quizás ojos móviles.

Do you have any color paper at home? I´m sure you do. Let´s make some origami animals with our little ones. The perfect craft for a rainy weekend or just to decorate. From the age of 5 years, kids have the necessary manual skills to make animals, boats, dinosaurs... We need to cut our paper in squares and follow some simple instructions like this ones.You could also buy a kit with the instructions and paper, or just special paper. I have this "Origami Fun Kit for Beginners" from Dover publications. It has three books and origami paper.
Next time I'd like to recycle gift paper and maybe use mobile eyes.

Customiza tu armario / Customize your wardrobe

PARCHES CON ♥♥♥

Los he visto en jerséis, vaqueros, bolsillos de faldas... pero no se me había ocurrido hacerlo hasta que ayer me encontré con unos vaqueros que los necesitaban. No me importan unos rotos pero según que sitio, claro.

Materiales: Parches vaqueros, tijeras para cortar tela, plancha y la prenda que queráis customizar.

1. Doblar el parche por su mitad vertical y luego su mitad horizontal. Intentad hacerlo lo más perfecto posible ya que así obtendremos 2 corazones iguales y simétricos.
2. Empezar a cortar el corazón desde la parte exterior hasta llegar a la mitad.
3. Cuando lleguéis a este punto desdoblad y tendréis 2 corazones iguales, (así también duplicamos el nº de parches).
4. Podéis planchar bien la zona sobre la que vais a fijarlos para evitar las arrugas. Poner el parche donde deseéis y calentar la plancha a la temperatura indicada por el fabricante. Seguid las indicaciones y del mismo y listos. Esto es todo, rápido y fácil.

Imagino muchas aplicaciones y diferentes motivos flores, monstrous, comecocos... Ya sé de unos niños que a partir de ahora va a tener unos superparches personalizados. Y vosotros, ¿cómo los habéis utilizado? Espero vuestros comentarios.^.^

PATCHES WITH ♥♥♥

Recently, I have seen ♥ patches everywhere on jumpers, trousers, pockets... I never thought about doing it, until yesterday when I found some jeans that really need them. I don´t mind worn out jeans but it depens on what you are showing, do you know what I mean?
Materials: denim patches, sharp scissors,an iron and the garment you want to use.

1. Fold the patch verticaly, right in the middle, repeat now fold it horizontaly. Try to do it as perfect as you can as it can affect the end result: two perfect hearts totaly simetrical. (you could use some pins if you like)
2. Cut the top of the heart starting from the outside until you reach the middle.
3. Once you reach that point, unfold it and there you have it, two hearts. We have dupliceted the number of patches.
4. You should iron the area to avoid crease. Place the heart and iron following the  manufacturer instructions. That´s it! Quick and easy!

I can imagine different aplications and motifs: fllowers, monsters... I know two little children who are going to have the coolest custom patches. Have you done it? How did you used them?  I'm looking foward to read your comments. ^.^

Ultimamente / Lately

Febrero loco, un mes de contrastes. Recientemente: una mañana en el parque de las ciencias, un niño llevando su sombrero favorito, un hada hablando por teléfono, San Valentín, nieve...
A crazy February full of contrast. Lately: a morning at the science museum, a boy wearing his favourite hat, a fairy on the phone, Valentine´s day, snow...

 Ayer nos despertamos a este paisaje. Casi todos los inviernos tenemos alguna nevadita en Granada, pero pocas veces cuaja como lo hizo ayer. Era el día de Andalucía, así que todos pudimos disfrutar de un día de nieve. ^.^

Yesterday we woke up to this view. Most of the winters we have some snow in Granada, but we rarely have enought to make a snowman, like yesterday. It was the day of Andalucía, (bank holiday) so we all enjoyed the snow. ^.^

SAN VALENTÍN

¿Celebráis S. Valentín? Quizás sois de los que dedicáis ese día a vuestra pareja por completo o por lo contrario, ¿pensáis que es otra fiesta más para consumir? Personalmente creo que si tienes pareja es un día para celebrar. Y no estoy hablando derrochar. Cada uno debe decidir cuanto quiere gastar o si simplemente quiere tener un gesto que diga "te quiero". Se pueden hacer muchas cosas sin gastar, o de bajo presupuesto. He recopilado algunos muy sencillos y que son rápidos de hacer. Podéis pedir a vuestros pequeños que colaboren:

• Preparar un desayuno especial,  o simplemente dándole forma de corazón a GALLETAS, tostadas, queso, manzana...Podemos usar un molde metálico de galletas.
• Haz tu confeti  para decorar una mesa, una carta, un regalito...
• Ambientar con velas, flores...Las velas de la foto están decoradas con tiras del papel cebolla perforado que he utilizado para hacer el confeti y un tarro de cristal.
• Corazón de origami, yo los hice siguiendo las instrucciones de aquí y sirven de marcapáginas
• Hacer una lista de música, en youtube, dedicada a esa persona especial
• Enmarcar fotos con un significado especial y escribirle una nota
• Sorpréndele escribiendo una carta a la antigua usanza, con sello y sin remite

VALENTINES

Do you celebrate Valentine´s day? Maybe you dedicate that day to you partner, or on the contrary do you think that it´s just another celebration to make us consume? I presonally think that if you have someone special you should celebrate it. I'm not talking about wasting money. It's up to you how much you want to spend or if you just want to have a nice gesture with your love one. There are so many proyects for a low budget. I put together some easy and quick ideas that you could do with your little ones:

• Prepare a nice breakfast, or simply using a heart-shaped cookie cutter, cut BISCUITS, apples, toast, cheese...
• Make your own confetti that can be use to decorated a tablecloth, a card, a present...
• Use candles and flowers to create a romantic atmosphere, it's not original but it works  every time. I have use some cut outs (from the paper that I cut the confetti) and a jar to make the candle vase
• Origami heart. I followed this tutorial. It's easy and it's a pagemarker too.
• Make a private playlist in youtube for that special person in your life
• Put a frame to a photo with a special  meaning, and write a note
• Surprise him/her  writting a letter like in "older times" and send it without a sender´s name

Ultimamente / Lately

Siento haber estado ausente durante el último mes. Mi pequeña ha tenido dos resfriados y le han salido las cuatro muelas a la vez, suficiente para tener noches sin dormir y unos días muy ajetreados. Además ha decidido que ya es lo bastante "mayor" y ya sólo duerme una siesta. Por otro lado a mi peque se le ha caído su primer diente de leche, así que el Ratoncito Pérez, le ha dejado un regalito muy chulo. Espero que todo vuelva a la normalidad con nuestra nueva rutina, y pronto pueda seguir con mis entradas habituales. Gracias por seguirme . ^.^

I am sorry for the lack of posting this month.  My little girl had two  colds and four mollars out, enought to have some sleepless nights and very busy days. She's also decided that she's a proper  toddler now, so she has only one nap a day. Meanwhile my son lost his first milk tooth, so tooth fairy brought him a cute present. Hopefully things will go back to normal with our new rutine and  I am hoping to get back to my regular posts soon. Thanks for follow me. ^.^  

Una ojeada a nuestros últimos días:el tiempo más frío, Lego un clásico, mis pequeños amores y juegos de niñas con Blythe. 

Mañana celebraremos el día de las tortitas, MMmmm. Mis favoritas son las dulces, fruta fresca, fresas, plátano...y un poco de chocolate caliente, ¿cuál es el tuyo?

A little peek into our days recently: the coldest weather, the classic Lego, my little loves and some girly playing with Blyhe.

Tomorrow we'll celebrate pancake day, Yummy! My favourites are the sweet combinations,  fresh fruit like banana or strawberry and some hot chocolate. Which one do you preffer?

Manualidades de niños / Kids crafts

Ahora con las vacaciones, con días de lluvia... a veces no sabemos como entretener a los más pequeños. Mi hijo no es un entusiasta de las manualidades, pero de vez en cuando... 

SELLOS:

• Necesitamos: si tenemos un cortaformas, o distintas formas precortadas en goma eva, o algún sobrante de goma eva, adhesivo doble cara, tapones de botella de plástico o corcho, una almohadilla de tinta y una superficie para estampar.
• Utilizamos las formas ya cortadas en goma eva con el diseño que hayamos elegido. Hay que tener en cuenta que la impresión va a ser el reflejo de la imagen que vemos, especialmente si hacemos letras o números.Las pegamos en los tapones con la cinta doble cara, y ¡listos para usar!
• Nos aseguramos que el dibujo quede completamente cubierto por la tinta, con cuidado lo colocamos sobre el papel y presionamos hacia abajo con cuidado que no se mueva. 
• Estos días podemos decorar un papel de regalo liso, una felicitación...La próxima vez lo haremos en tela, ya os contaré. ¿Les gustó? Al menos se habrán entretenido un ratito. ^.^

Now that kids are on holidays, with rainy days... sometimes we don't know how to keep  them busy. My son is not very crafty, but it depens in what you offer him to do...

STAMPS

• You need: a shapecutter, or precut foam shapes, or a piece of foam, doble side adhesive tape, bottle tops, an inkpad and a surface to print.
• Choose the cut shapes of foam. The print will be a mirror image of the design you use, so be careful when you're working with letters and numbers. Stick the shape to the bottle top with the tape, and you're ready to go!
• Make sure all the design is covered with ink, and with a steady had place it on the paper /surface, and press it down.
• It would be useful to decorate a present, a card...  We will print some fabric next time. Did you enjoy it? I hope that at least kids have been entertain with this craft. ^.^

La chica del cumpleaños/ Birthday girl

Esta fin de semana mi pequeña ha cumplido un año.¡No me puedo creer!¿ya? ¡como ha crecido! Ha sido muy especial,♥ reunimos a toda la familia, incluido el abuelo que voló desde el Reino Unido para celebrarlo con sus nietos. Tenía pensado el vestido, los colores de los globos e incluso la tarta. Pero nada sale como se planea. Aparte de la tarta de corazón y magdalenas que yo hice, nos regalaron otras dos tartas. Madre mía vamos a comer tarta hasta hartarnos, ja,ja! El vestido que le puse al final era retro, de cuando yo era pequeña. Se portó como una campeona y disfrutó de la compañía. Llegó ha probar las magdalenas, ¡que dulce! ↖(^ω^)↗

This weekend my little baby turned one. I can't believe it! Already? It was a very special day ♥ . We gathered all the family together, even grandpa that flew from the UK to celebrate with us. I had everything planned, the little dress, the colors of the baloons, the cake...but nothing turs out as you plan, and apart from the heart shape cake and the cupcakes I baked, we were given two more. OMG, we are going to eat just cake for the weekend! The dress she worn at the end was a charming one from when I was little. She was a champion, she enjoyed the company and even tried the cupcakes I baked, so sweet!↖(^ω^)↗

Accesorios de fieltro / Felt Accessories

Hace poco empecé a hacer accesorios para mi pequeña. Son broches de fieltro que uso para adornar su ropa (especialmente si lleva algo de su hermano) o  añadiéndolos a unas diademas elásticas. Tengo que confesar que alguna vez yo he utilizado alguno para darle una nota de color a alguna chaqueta o jersey oscuro. Mi hijo también tiene dos que le encantan (el cocodrilo y el trébol). Lo mejor es que con restos de tela, fieltro y un poco de imaginación, en un ratito están hechos.

Recently I started making  little accessories for my little baby girl.This are felt broches that she wears on her clothes ( specially if she is wearing his brother´s), or pinned in a hairband. I must admit sometimes I use them too just to add some color to a dark jacket or jumper. My son has also two that he loves ( the cocodrile and the clover). The best thing about it is that just using felt scratches and your imagination it can be done in little time.

Deliciosas galletas /Yummy Biscuits

Si os gusta probar nuevas recetas, tenéis una fiesta o queréis regalar, os dejo la receta de las galletas que hice para San Valentín. Podéis hacerlas con ayuda de vuestros pequeños, seguro que estarán entretenidos un rato. Es muy sencilla y puede servir de base para otras más elaboradas añadiendo frutos secos, gotitas de chocolate, o decorándolas.

If  you like to try new recipes, you are having a party or you want to gift to someone special ...this is the recipe for you: the delicious biscuits I baked for Valentine's day. You can use it as a base and  just add any ingredient that you like: chocolate, nuts, icing...

INGREDIENTES

•  1/2 taza de mantequilla
•  1 taza de azúcar
•  1 huevo (si es de corral, mejor)
•  1 cucharadita de levadura en polvo
•  1 y 1/3 taza de harina
•  1 cucharadita de esencia de vainilla
•  sal
• gotitas de chocolate

Primero utilizamos la mantequilla que habrá estado a temperatura ambiente. La batimos hasta que este a punto de crema, e iremos incorporando los demás ingredientes poco a poco: el huevo, azúcar, harina, levadura, una pizca de sal y la esencia de vainilla. Hacemos una bola que cubrimos con un plástico y guardamos en el frigorífico durante dos horas. Espolvoreamos una superficie plana sobre la que iremos extendiendo la masa con ayuda de un rodillo. Con un molde vamos cortando las formas que hayamos escogido y las ponemos sobre una bandeja que habremos cubierto con papel de horno. La galleta de la foto se ha decorado con gotitas de chocolate antes de hornear. Hornear a 175 durante 10-12min. Dejamos enfriar en una rejilla y decorar con mermelada, chocolate fundido, azucar ... ¡A DISFRUTAR! Me gustaría saber como os han quedado.    

TRUCO: Si tenéis moldes de playdoh, podéis lavarlos bien y utilizarlos como moldes de para hacer las galletas con vuestros niños.

INGREDIENTS

• 1/2 cup butter
• 1 cup sugar
• 1 egg (free range better)
• 1 tea spon baking powder
• 1 y 1/3 cup flour
• 1 tea spon vainilla esence
• salt
• chocolate chips

Beat the butter until soft and creamy. Gradually add the rest of ingredients: the egg, the sugar, the baking powder, the flour, a pinch of salt and the vanilla. Make a ball with the dough, cover with plastic and keep in the fridge for two hours. Roll out the dough onto a floured surface untill is thick enough to use the cookie cutter that you choose.The biscuit of the photo has some chocolate chips that had been added before going into the oven. Put the biscuits onto a oven tray and bake at 175ºC for 10-12 minutes depending on your oven. Let cool before decorating with, chocolate, jam,  frosting... ENJOY! I´d like to know how they turn out.

Valentine´s biscuits

Hoy ha sido un día inesperado. Mi hijo y mi marido estan enfermos, así que las chicas de la casa (mi bebé y yo), estamos cuidándolos estos días. Eso unido al frío extremo de estos días, han hecho que apenas haya salido= no regalitos o celebración especial para hoy. Esta mañana mientras el bebé dormía una ligera siesta, he aprovechado con mi otro peque que se encontraba mejor, para hacer una masa de galletas. Es nuestra sorpresa para papá. Esta tarde extenderemos la masa y haremos galletas. No sé si podrá guardar el secreto por más tiempo. También probaremos unos macarons de fresa que compramos para hoy, quizás con un chocolate calentito?MMmmmm. Bueno, si hay intención siempre se encuentra la forma de hacerlo. RECETA

Today It´s been unexpected. My little boy and my hubby are porly, so the girls of the house (that´s my baby & me) are taken care of them. That and the extremelly cold weather are the reasons why I couln't buy or make anything special for today. Luckily my baby had a short nap this morning and we were able to mix the dough to bake some biscuits. This is our surprise for daddy. Later we´ll shape the dough and bake them. I not sure my son will keep the secret for much longer. We'll  also have some strawberry macarons that we bought for today, maybe with some hot chocolate? Yummy.
